What is weight loss coaching?

Weight loss coaching is a process that focuses on weight loss from the inside out.  It is a psycho-social approach that looks at the psyche of the client and how their social environment impacts their health related behaviors.  Coaching helps you get in touch with your inner-self to bring out an awareness of the internal and external barriers and triggers that may be hindering your efforts at realizing your weight loss goals.  fitBodyCoach aims to provide you a comfortable, non-judgemental, and supportive place to start the process of answering the key question:  why are you overweight?

The 3-Dimensional Approach:  It’s a proven fact that permanent weight loss is not possible without addressing the deeper issues of behavior and lifestyle change.  This is where majority of the weight loss programs on the market fall short.  Most weight loss programs use a physiological approach that mainly focuses on reducing caloric intake and increasing physical activity.  We all know that diet and exercise will help you lose weight initially, but can they help you keep the weight off?  The answer is NO!  It’s proven that diet and exercise alone cannot sustain long-term weight loss.

The only proven method for long-term weight loss is by addressing issues of behavior and lifestyle modification. My Philosophy…

Getting in touch with your inner self.  The big issue here is not your weight, nor is it about the food; it goes deeper than that.  To put it pure and simple, it’s about our self-image, how we perceive ourselves, and how we treat ourselves.  The fitBodyCoach program focuses on strengthening the individual from the inside out.  Just like a house requires a solid foundation on which to build a strong structure to withstand the storms; we must focus our energies on developing our own solid foundation of inner-strength by doing the much important inner-work.  The inner-strength is the foundation that will support the lifestyle changes you make to achieve a healthier body and mind once and for all.

Deprivation leads to self-sabotage. How many times have you started a strict diet only to find yourself scoffing an entire bag of cookies by the end of the first day? When we deprive ourselves of food to fuel our body or even food that just tastes great, we set ourselves up to over-indulge. The latest brain research tells us that we are biologically wired to store extra fat when we starve ourselves. The body interprets dieting as a form of starvation and therefore holds on to fat for emergency fuel, not knowing when the next meal will be.  News Flash:  In reality diets don’t lead to weight loss, they prevent it.

I don’t believe in depriving yourself of the foods you love (yes, even if they’re not so healthy) – a good rule of thumb is that if you eat well 90% of the time, then the other 10% is all yours! Everything in moderation is the key.

The tools and skills that you will attain from this journey will also allow you to positively impact the lives of those close to you, similar to the ripple effect of a stone hitting the water.

Success in anything comes from a place of inner-strength, self-acceptance, and a solid belief in oneself – this is especially true of weight loss.

  1. We’ve regularly believed that the very best method to loose weight swiftly is to quite simply improve your way of life. What I suggest is, in case you truly want or need to lose some kilos, then you’ve to make that fundamental decision – am I going to do this or aren’t I? And when you have made your mind up, and you are wholly commited to your success, then absolutely nothing can stop you.
